The Townsville Marksmen Rifle Club is primarily a target rifle club. precision single shot bolt action rifles are used to shoot targets over distances from 300 metres to 900 metres. This style of shooting is also referred to as prone fullbore discilpine and is a commonwealth games sport.
The club invites those interested in participating in this shooting sport to contact the secretary for information on the new shooter/come and try afternoons usually conducted once a month.
TMRC is also a registed smallbore rifle club and conducts competitions twice a month - see calander for dates.
Classes of Rifle Shooting
Target Rifle
Full bore single shot bolt action target rifles with peep sights up to 7.62mm/.308 calibre, fired at 300 to 900 metres.
F Class Scope Rifle
Full bore single shot bolt action target rifle with telescopic sights and rests, fired at 300 to 900 metres.
Shooting is conducted under the Standard Shooting Rules (SSRs) of the National Rifle Association of Australia (NRAA).
